Coffs Harbour Senior Class time has now changed to 7pm to 8:30
From now on, Judo will not be practised at either club during the School Holidays. We are hoping to have a 3 - 5 day Summer Camp (probably at the PCYC) during the next Summer Holiday break, this will of course depend on whether or not we get enough participants. More information will be posted soon. Please see Cliff if you are interested.

Visiting Coach Gary Pranglen (bottom) has been training with the Coffs Harbour Special Needs Team. Pictured from Left to Right: Sensei Cliff Illingworth, Brent Manwarring, John Gosbell and Andrew Bones. This was a new experience for Sensei Gary because although Judo is a much more popular sport in the U.K where Gary is from, there are very few Special Needs Clubs.

To all Judoka,

We will be holding a Judo Federation Gradings at Kuzushi on 30th August and Coffs Harbour on Tuesday 31st August.

You must be a financial member of the Judo Federation.

This is not related to the Komon Purple Belt System.

The Grading is not compulsory; but if you have not reached the JFA Grade of 4th Kyu (Orange Belt), you will not be permitted to compete in competitions, having an Orange Belt demonstrates that you have attained a standard of competency showing you are safe to compete.

The cost is $20 and this must be paid in advance.

The answer to the last Poll: Jigoro Kano created Judo.

Jacob Smidt tries his luck with Oceania Under 115kg Champion Yoshi Ashida in the Sumo ring. Yoshi and Hide had a great session with us last week, we must organise a visit to the Gold Coast to go and train at their club.

The Lismore PCYC competition will be held on the 6th November!!!!

The answer to the last Poll: The Japanese sign (made by our good friend Tomo) above the doors of our Dojo says Kodokan, but what does it mean? Answer: The school for studying the way.

We had a great practice session at Zensen Judo Club on Saturday 8th May, learnt some new strangles from standing as well as from the ground, some grip fighting that we can use on the unbeatable Takashi if he ever returns to Australia and Randori sessions that emphasised how unfit we are! Zensen is a friendly Judo Club that has made us feel very welcome; we are going to get together  twice a year in alternating venues to keep a relationship between our two Clubs.                 If you are ever up that way try and join in in a practice session:                     Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre
50 Oliver Ave
Goonellabah (Lismore)
Training Times: Mon - Wed 5.30 - 8.30 Juniors and Seniors
